As a Human Resources Assistant, Amy van Steijn ensures that all HR-related matters are kept up-to-date and run smoothly. She ensures that all documentation is in order, acts as the first point of contact for questions, and supports the HR department. In addition, she provides updates for payroll administration and manages matters such as contract extensions, employee anniversaries, and retirements.
What is the most important skill you have developed at CSi?
“An important skill I have developed further at CSi is the automation of processes. By implementing a digitalisation initiative with my colleagues Hiske and Gaby, many work processes in the HR department have become more efficient and organised. Since my role within the team is quite independent but also very broad, I had to learn a lot and master many different tasks during my first year. Now, all processes are streamlined, allowing me to keep everything up-to-date, and maintain a clear overview. In addition, I have been improving my English, partly through a course I have been taking after we joined the Mpac Group. I am grateful for the opportunity to develop this skill and find it very useful.”
What makes this particular role at this company so enjoyable?
“I enjoy the amount of autonomy I have and I value the responsibility that comes with this position. It is an independent role within a small team of three, which makes it both challenging and interesting. I appreciate being able to shape my work according to my own approach while managing a broad range of responsibilities. Colleagues come to me daily with a variety of questions regarding payslips, practical matters, or administrative issues, and it is rewarding to be able to help them. There is always plenty happening in the HR office, which makes every day different. The Mpac acquisition has also brought new challenges and changes, making my work dynamic and never dull.”
How does your work contribute to the larger company mission?
“My work contributes by ensuring that all HR processes run smoothly and on time. This includes payroll, contract management, leave administration, and monitoring sickness reports. I also organise and support events such as employee anniversaries and retirements, and assist with the annual celebrations. Together with my colleague Alex de Koning, I also ensure that employees hold the correct certifications, such as VCA, NEN, and A1 for working abroad. In addition, I am involved in our care and support initiatives, for important life events such as births, marriages, illness, or anniversaries. All of these efforts help employees feel valued and ensure that everything surrounding their work is well organised.”
