Geoffrey van Gils is the Team Leader of the Field Support team. As team leader, he coaches his team of ten, shares knowledge, supports them in their preparation, acts as a point of contact for questions, and helps them grow.
What is the most important skill you have developed at CSi?
“I have grown as a person, especially in terms of leadership skills and they continue to develop. This role came my way, and CSi actively encouraged me to take it and grow. Within CSi I have plenty of opportunities for internal discussions, and I also work with an external coach who helps me further refine my leadership skills.”
What makes this particular role at this company so enjoyable?
“For the past six years, I worked in the Field Support team and always enjoyed it. You get to travel a lot and experience different cultures. Every assignment, application or technical issue is different, so you quickly learn a great deal. Now that I have a child, I want to be home more, and the team leader role allows me to do that. And why CSi? There’s a certain level of freedom and personal responsibility here that you won’t find anywhere else. When you’re at a customer’s site, you are their main point of contact, the programmer, the installer—everything.
A great bonus is the personal friendships you develop with colleagues. I’ve become good friends with my Mexican counterpart, Emanuel, and even attended his wedding in Mexico.”
How does your work contribute to the larger company mission?
“Service is crucial for our customers, especially in today’s 24/7 society. I aim to increase the team’s knowledge so we can provide the best service possible. I also act as a knowledge base or sparring partner, supporting not only my direct colleagues but also Service Project managers, Sales, and colleagues from other departments. And, of course, having some fun during work!”
