Team Manager Project Management

The Team Manager Project Management is responsible for leading the project management team (11fte). The role ensures that large-scale, multidisciplinary projects (palletising and material-handling systems) are optimally managed, delivered on time and within budget, and meet defined quality standards. The position focuses on building and maintaining an organizational structure that secures optimal project delivery, customer satisfaction and project profitability. Our projects vary significantly in nature from large, multidisciplinary assignments with intensive customer interaction to smaller lean‑focused deliveries, standard product implementations, and software‑intensive projects requiring an iterative approach and therefore demand different styles of project management.

The Team Manager Project Management reports directly to the Director Palletising Systems and serves as the primary interface between the project organization and the wider operation, working closely with the team leaders of Mechanical-, Hardware- & Software Engineering, System Integration, I&C, Procurement and Service to align planning, capacity and priorities. The Manager Project Management chairs project management meetings, coordinates cross departmental planning and risk management with all team leaders to ensure seamless project execution, and represents the Project Management Department at management level by providing strategic input on project performance, capacity planning, process improvements and organizational development.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Strategic leadership & collaboration

• Responsibility for direction, priorities, quality and profitability of the project portfolio.
• Defines project management policy together with the management team.
• Strategic risk management: periodically assessing not only project risks but also portfolio risks and discussing these with the management team.
• Internal stakeholder management; aligning with Sales, Finance, IT and M-Pac companies.

Department strategy & governance

• Defines, monitors and reports KPIs for the project organization and actively steers on these.
• Ensures a clear KPI dashboard for management and team leaders and periodically discusses results and improvement actions.
• Designs project governance: uniform ways of working, clear phases, decision and escalation points, risk management, safety and quality.

• Analyses structural issues and translates them into structural improvements.

People management & organizational development

• Ensures clear division of roles, mandate and follow up of agreements, and stimulates team growth through coaching, feedback, training and certification programs (such as IPMA).
• Invests in a mature project management organization through a structured approach to performance and development reviews.

• Continuously develops his team by staying up to date with the latest Project Management methodologies and soft skills.

Process optimization & portfolio management

• Monitors capacity and workload and steers a realistic portfolio planning.
• Aligns structurally with team leaders of Engineering, I&C, Procurement, Production and Service on capacity, priorities, schedules and bottlenecks.
• Continuously improves processes, standards and performance of the project organization.
• Acts as senior escalation point towards customers and management for critical project risks or deviations.

• Supports project teams in complex negotiations regarding changes, contracts and claims.

What are we looking for?

As Team Manager Project Management, you play a crucial role in shaping our future. We are looking for a results‑driven and self‑starting manager with extensive experience in leading complex technical projects within a project‑based machine‑building environment. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively in teams, but is also able to make clear decisions when required. You have strong analytical capabilities and are persuasive, proactive and solution‑oriented. You communicate effectively in both Dutch and English. In addition to these qualities, we have a number of further requirements:

• Education level; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in a technical field.
• In possession of minimal IPMA-C Certification (or willingness to do so).
• At least 5 years of experience in a (project)management role.
• Leadership & development: Able to guide and engage colleagues in the further professionalization and continuous improvement of the Project Management department.
• Analytical skills: Strong analytical capabilities to assess project performance, risks, resources and timelines, and to proactively anticipate and mitigate issues.
• Communication: Effective communication with technical teams, stakeholders and customers, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical and project‑related concepts.
• Strategic insight: Capable of developing a clear project management vision and translating it into a strategy aligned with the broader organizational objectives.
